Student-centered learning begins with the understanding that students come from vastly differing educational contexts, and attempts to tailor the learning experience to meet the needs of the individual.
Learner-centered education develops skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and reflective thinking. By helping students understand the learning process, learner-centered education helps build a foundation for lifelong learning.
Each of Arizona’s three public universities offers programs and services that are tailored to create a learner-centered environment. The learner-centered approach implies active involvement by the student and the integration of academics with the student’s total development.
