Donald Soldwedel has made significant contributions of both personal service and resources to the University of Arizona. He was elected to the UA Foundation Board of Directors in 1983 and served as president from 1989 to 1991, playing an active leadership role in highly successful fundraising activities to support academic programs throughout the university.
Soldwedel is past chair of the Arizona Alumni National Board, and serves or has served on: College of Business and Public Administration National Board of Advisors,
Karl Eller Center Advisory Board,
UA Public Relations Committee,
University Medical Center Board of Directors,
University Physicians Board of Directors, and
(UA) President's Task Force on the Department of Journalism.
He also was co-founder of the University Writing Center.
A resident of Yuma, Soldwedel was instrumental in bringing higher education to Southwestern Arizona by helping develop the partnership of Northern Arizona University and Arizona Western College.
