Candidates for ASU presidency set to interview

The committee searching for a new president for Arizona State University has announced the names of two candidates who have accepted an invitation to interview with the committee on February 28.

The candidates are: (see bios below)

The 35-member search committee, which includes Regents, faculty, students, administrators, alumni and business and community leaders, will meet with the candidates in Phoenix and is expected to forward the names of one or both of the candidates as finalists to the Board of Regents.

Finalists are expected to visit the ASU campus during the next two weeks and meet with campus and community representatives in a series of meetings and forums.

The Board of Regents is expected to interview the finalists on March 15. A final decision will be announced by the Board shortly thereafter.

Regent Don Ulrich has chaired the search committee. “This appointment is critical to the future of Arizona State University and to the well being of the state of Arizona,” he said.
The committee considered the credentials of more than 75 prospects, and narrowed the list in recent weeks through a series of exploratory contacts and committee deliberations. Regent Ulrich praised the work of the committee and said he believes both Dr. Holbrook and Dr. Crow have demonstrated the leadership abilities and achievement that the committee is looking for in a new president.

The search committee has been meeting since October to identify a successor to ASU President Lattie Coor, who will retire when his current contract expires on June 30.
More information about the search can be found on the Board of Regents’ website at: www.abor.asu.edu.
