The Arizona Board of Regents held a special videoconference meeting at the Arizona Board of Regents Central Office, 2020 N. Central, Suite 230, on January 27, 2009, at 3:00 p.m.  Some members participated by telephone.

Also attending were Michael Crow, Christine Wilkinson, Morgan Olsen, Jim O’Brien, Terry Shafer, and Rich Stanley from Arizona State University; Robert Shelton, Jacqueline Mok, Meredith Hay, Judith Leonard, and Carla Nunn from the University of Arizona; M J. McMahon, Bob Norton, and Pat Haeuser from Northern Arizona University; Executive Director Joel Sideman, Board Counsel Nancy Tribbensee, Board Secretary Peggy Martin, Cathy McGonigle, Sandra Woodley, Rick Gfeller, Stephanie Jacobson Emily Palumbo, and Gale Tebeau from the Central Office and Edwin Gonzalez-Santin representing the Arizona Faculties Council.

Regent Boice called the meeting to order at 3:33 p.m.

Regent Boice stated that the purpose of the meeting was to consider approval of the allocation of the $141.5M budget cut enacted by the legislature.

Regent Bulla then stated that this matter was considered earlier today at the Strategic Planning, Budget and Finance Committee Meeting.  He further stated that there was consensus among the university Presidents regarding the distribution of this reduction.

Upon motion by Regent Bulla, seconded by Regent Mariucci, the Board unanimously approved the distribution of the FY 2009 $141.5 million general fund reduction, with each president to determine how the cuts will be taken among their campuses.

Regent Boice thanked everyone for their attendance.

There being no further business to come before this meeting, Regent Boice adjourned the meeting at 3:45 p.m.
